Mistaken Kollel Stipend

Shalom HaRav! My question is the following: I was studying in a kollel and moved to another. In the first kollel, they forgot to cancel my membership and the Ministry of Religious Services sent the money for my scholarship, which was deposited by such oblivion in my bank account. What am I supposed to do with that money? Thank you very much and jag sameach!

Answer:

I assume that for the Ministry of Religious Services it doesn’t really matter which Kollel you are learning at – assuming you are still learning in Kollel, you deserve the scholarship fund. If this assumption is true, you can keep the money.

If you are now studying in a Kollel where you don’t have the right to receive a scholarship, you should inform them by means of a letter. If they decide to ignore the letter (probable), you don’t need to take further action.

Best wishes.
