Sniping Bottom of Hadas

If a hadas is “rubo” (majority meshulas) can it be made “kulo” (All meshulosh) by sniping? Is this what people should do? Does it actually become “kulo”?

Answer:

The definition of “kulo” is that there is a stretch of 24cm (according to R’ Chaim No’eh; 29cm according to the Chazon Ish) in which the leaves are all meshulash.

The presence of other non-meshulash leaves at the bottom of the hadas does not make a difference, and therefore I have not seen people “snipe” the bottom of the hadas to make it into “kulo meshulash.”

Best wishes.
