Staining after Pill

My wife is currently on birth control pills and this is the second cycle of pills she has taken so far since she started.

Ahe has stained during the first cycle and was told by the doctor to come off of it and get her period after giving birth. Now the second time she is staining for a week straight in the morning after taking the pill in the morning on colored garments but not heavy to be a period. When does she be considered niddah if she is?

Answer:

This is a question that is hard to answer over the Internet. In general, stains on a colored garment do not make a woman a Niddah.

However, the question is when stains that come frequently cease to be defined as stains and are rather defined as a menstrual flow, which of course will make her into a Niddah.

You write that the stains are not “heavy,” so that it sounds like these are stains alone, and she will not be a Niddah (provided the stains are on colored garments or do not reach the required size).

Best wishes.

  1. THanks so much for the response, So if I do not consider her a niddah, I am still Hesitant to actually be together because of the severity of possible menstrual flow, is this what I should be doing?

    1. If she is not a niddah, you should not be hesitant. Meaning, if according to halachah she is permitted, you should not be hesitant, but rather be together as husband and wife.
      Best wishes.
