Found Money in Bought House

If you purchase a house and the seller (who inherited the house from some relatives that passed away) says they are leaving everything in the house that they don’t take for you (example they took some furniture but left other furniture), and you find some money in the house which the sellers would not have known existed, are you permitted to keep that money or does it belong to the seller.

Answer:

It is not permitted to keep the money.

The intention of the seller is that the buyer can keep those items that go together with the house, such as items of furniture, light fixtures, and so on.

The intention is clearly not for things that don’t go together with the house – jewelry, clothing, and money.

Therefore, the money should be returned to their owner.

Best wishes.
