I work for a college. I am doing QA on their courses, checking for mistakes while simultaneously taking these courses for actual credit. May I use the college textbooks meant for their instructors (it is given free to instructors but not meant for students; the publisher wants students to buy it) if the college I work for allows me to use them? Or am I obligated to buy the text?

Under the circumstances you can use the college textbook. If the college considers you an instructor this is sufficient for purposes of using the textbook.
