Getting to the World to Come

If a person does not get the world to come, what happens to him?

Answer:

The Mishnah (Sanhedrin 10:1)  teaches that every Jew has a portion in the world to come. This means that eventually all will get there, though the route will be different for the righteous and for the wicked, for the tzaddik and for the rasha.

Although the Mishnah mentions a number of exceptions, the Gemara cites from Dorshei Reshumos – those who can reach a level of sublime subtlety – that even these “exceptions” will finally reach their portion in the world to come.

As in the physical world, even in spiritual existence there is no such thing as simply “ceasing to exist.” There are transfers from one mode to another, one spiritual expression of life to another.

Best wishes.
