Treatment of Minim

As per my 2 previous questions about minnim.

Does this Halacha (if it applies, meaning that you said that it does not apply to a drop out teen) cancel out other mitzvos?

For example: 1. Ahavas Yisroel 2. Shalom Bayis 3. Hating a Yid 4. Grudge etc. etc.

So does this Halacha go above all of them? Or some are super big that they can’t go over for example Shalom Bayis (as it states in the Gemorah?)

Answer:

In principle, yes (this halacha “goes above” them).

The ways that we are instructed to deal with “bona fide minim” are such that should neutralize their threat to the community. This does not defer Ahavas Yisrael, but applies Ahavas Yisrael in a broader sense (case for the people and ensuring that they won’t be harmed by this threat). When communities excommunicate somebody, they are aware of the unfortunate consequences in many areas, but know that this is a necessary cost of defending the community.

As written previously, I think that true cases of a “min” today are extremely rare.

Best wishes.
