Names for Hashkava Ceremony

Dear Rabbi,
My mother in law passed away — the levayah and Shivah were both held In Israel. At the hashcava, should one use the mother’s name, and her father’s name after it, meaning Sara bat Rachel and Avraham? We are Sefaradi, from Afganistan.

Answer:

For a mother, one should use the mother’s name alone, meaning Sarah bat Rachel. For a son, most use the father’s name, and some use the mother’s name.

The answer is for the Sephardic custom.
